"For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." Ephesians 5:30-32
Let’s start this study off with a couple of quick questions: what fellowship does light have with darkness and what communion is there between good and evil? “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 And can sweet and bitter water come from the same fountain? “Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” James 3:11 Can a divided house stand? The answers to these questions are: there is no fellowship between light and darkness, for as soon as the light appears, the darkness flees. A house divided will fall every time. There is no communion between good and evil, the two have nothing in common; and finally a fountain either produces sweet water or it produces bitter water. These are plain and simple truths, there is no gray area; they are absolute Truths of our Father! If there is any leaven at all in a lump of dough, the whole lump of dough is leavened!
Now let me ask you this, if we are now Jesus’ body, His flesh, and His bones, how can we be darkness as well? If Jesus is Light and we are darkness, then the Temple of God would be a divided house, a house that Jesus says will not stand. So for what Jesus said to be true, the Truth has to be that we are no longer evil! “But if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 We are no longer darkness, because the Light now lives within us! “At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and ye in Me, and I in you.” John 14:20
Our Father said that through Christ we are cleansed from all sin. The Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior cleanses us from all sin. All is all! In Christ we are clean and all darkness has been removed from us! Now take a minute and actually think of us as being the body of Christ. First lets consider sickness. Can Jesus be sick? No! Whose body are we? Can Jesus fear? No! Whose body are we? Can Jesus fail? No! Whose body are we, whose mind have we been given, whose heart has been placed within us, whose love do we now walk in? Does Jesus ever question what our Father wants Him to do? No! Whose mind do we now have? We are no longer on our own, we have been grafted into the Vine of Jesus Christ and He will never leave us or forsake us! Faith comes from hearing the Truth and the Truth sets us free from fear and the torment of it! The Truth gives us peace that passes understanding and it gives us joy that remains stable and fixed, regardless of what is going on around us! The Truth allows us to walk by faith Authored and Finished by Jesus and not by sight! Greater is He that is within us than anything and anybody that is in the world!
Let’s go beyond our own personal benefits. How does Jesus live? “Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25 The Truth is that Jesus ever lives to intercede for us; and whose body are we? When Jesus was here 2000 years ago, how did He live? He was used by our Father to cure the sick, raise the dead, feed the masses, turn water to wine, and teach the Truth that sets us free! Jesus showed the people the Father, He gave and He served. Whose body are we? “He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself to walk even as He walked.” 1 John 2:6 We should walk like Jesus because we are now alive with Him. How can we walk any other way? “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 We have to walk like Jesus because we have been crucified with Him, and nevertheless we live, yet it is not us who is living, it is Christ within us Who lives!
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that beliveth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father.” John 14:12 Whose body are we?
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18 Whose body are we?
We are members of Jesus’ body, flesh of His flesh, and bone of His bones. Do you consider yourself to be? If you don’t, you can. And if you do believe that you are Jesus' body, praise God, that is what His desire and will is for us. Here is a Biblical Truth that shows us how we ought to think if we are not quit as far along as these verses say we should be. “Brethren, I count not myself as to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things that are behind, and reaching for those things which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of the High calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded; and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” Philippians 3:12-15
Have I attained all of these verses? Yes, because Jesus has fulfilled them for me. Do I always have the faith that I have attained them? No, but will I, my hope is that I will. But you see, whether I can believe the Truth or not really doesn’t matter, because our Father is the One leading us. I know that Jesus is coming back for a glorious church with spot, wrinkle, or blemish. If we are here, than we will be without spot, wrinkle, or blemish, if not, than we will be without spot, wrinkle, or blemish with Him in eternity! The Truth is there are no scriptures that say that we cannot be as Jesus is in this earth. So forget what has happened in the past, press towards what we are studying. Press towards them through the power of our Father, He will lead you and guide you. The Holy Spirit will empower you to allow Jesus to Author and Finish the faith to believe, and He will cause you to trust in Jesus to do far above, exceedingly and abundantly above, what you can ask or think for. And remember, there is now therefore no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus!
I pray that all of us will realize who we are in Christ and what it means to be His body, the peace, the joy, the love, the power, and the love to serve that it brings. I pray that each and every one of us will forget those things that are behind, and that we will press towards those things above. Father you forget our sins, Your Word says as far as the east is from the west is how far You remove our sins into the sea of forgetfulness. I pray the same for us, that we too, will forget those things that are in the past, just as You forget them. I thank You Father that we just don’t talk about these verses; we all live them, that we all experience them to their fullest extent. I thank You Father for this, glory and honor and praise be to You, the only True God, the only Living God, our Father!
