Notice where we are shown that Grace comes from, it is not from us, it is from our Father. Grace is underserved favor with God. We can do nothing to earn favor with God or obtain His favor. Grace is just given and it is given to us from God. Which leads me to what a lot of people believe and that is that Grace must be accepted to be had. But if that were true, then wouldn’t that mean that grace is earned by our acceptance? Yet we are plainly told that grace is unearned.
So that, [just] as sin has reigned in
death, [so] grace (His unearned
and undeserved favor) might reign also through righteousness (right
standing with God) which issues in eternal life through Jesus Christ (the
Messiah, the Anointed One) our Lord. Romans 5:21
Our Father is not a respecter
of persons, Acts 10:34. So this must mean that Grace is freely given to
everyone, even if they don’t accept it! Think about the Jews who crucified
Jesus to see this glorious Truth. These guys had no excuse whatsoever. They
knew the Scriptures. They had seen the dead raised, the lame walk, and the
blind gain their sight. Even though they lied, tortured, and killed Jesus, they
still received forgiveness and Grace, Luke 23:34. They did not ask for it and
they did not believe that they had received it. Yet they still did, that is how
awesome our Father is and that is how powerful Jesus’ sacrifice was. If it were
up to us to accept Grace we would blow it.
