We Are Now Perfect In Christ, So Forget Your Past Sins

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you." Philippians 3:13-15

Sure we talk about forgetting the wrongs that we have committed, but how many of us actually do it? Well, once again faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God! We are born again of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, so who and what we now are have come directly from our Father. So let’s look at the Word to see how our Father is.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12

“And you, being dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting and the ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the His cross.” Colossians 2:12-13

Our Father, Who also is God, has removed our sins away from us, as far as the east is from the west, which is as far as it gets! Our Father has forgiven us all of our trespasses by uniting us and by making us alive together with Himself. He took all of the ordinances and handwritings that were against us and threw them out the door by sending Jesus to the Cross. Jesus abolished them all, hallelujah, He abolished them all, every last one! Past, present, and future, all praise God are gone, removed from us, as far as the east is from the west! Why do you think King David wrote that we are so blessed? “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.” Romans 4:6-7

This is Who we are born of, do you see in the Word how our Father is? He removes our sin from us and covers them with Christ’s Blood, and since He has we are counted as righteous without any works! So if God takes this attitude towards us than we can as well, because it’s Who we are from. God’s nature is what has birthed us. His Spirit is alive and dwelling within us, we now have the mind of Christ, and He has given us a new heart that is able and willing to accept these things. We preach that we should forget, but we don’t preach that God has actually empowered us with Himself to forget. Paul forgot, just read his writings, how often does he talk about messing up? He knew he wasn’t as mature as he could be, but he also knew who he was in Christ, and he was able to forget the errors of the past because he was born again from the Incorruptible Seed of God that allowed him to!

"It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect." Psalm 18:32

Our Father has girded us with His strength to be perfect, and perfection in Christ a free gift. Our Father's has empowered us to live in the fullness of His salvation. Look at what Paul went on to write in Philippians 3, if any one be otherwise minded, God will reveal His Truth to them. If we have truly have been chosen and empowered by the Holy Spirit to say yes to Jesus and have made Him Lord of our lives, than God will make our way perfect. Our Father will reveal the Truth to us that our sins are gone and that we are righteous without any works! We do not have to wait until Heaven to come to a complete and full understanding of this Truth; we can know it completely and fully right now on this earth!

Faith comes from hearing the Truth, and the Truth will set us free! So in the power of Jesus Christ, forget those things that are behind, and reach for those things that are before, the prize of our high calling in Jesus Christ! It’s born in us, it’s who we are, and it’s what we are! God will make our way perfect and He will gird us with the strength to walk in perfection! A-men, He said it, it is so!
