Colossians 3:21-22

Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children [do not be hard on them or harass them], lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated. [Do not break their spirit.] Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose [with all your heart] because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him.

Let’s keep with the theme that we started yesterday, our Father is God so these Words apply to Him as well as they do to us. So according to the Bible God cannot provoke, irritate, or fret us. We are told that Father’s are not to be hard on their children, lest they become discouraged and frustrated, so God cannot be hard on us either.

For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. Matthew 11:30

Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept God's will)? Romans 2:4

For God has not appointed us to [incur His] wrath [He did not select us to condemn us], but [that we might] obtain [His] salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) 1 Thessalonians 5:9

For I will be merciful and gracious toward their sins and I will remember their deeds of unrighteousness no more. When God speaks of a new [covenant or agreement], He makes the first one obsolete (out of use). And what is obsolete (out of use and annulled because of age) is ripe for disappearance and to be dispensed with altogether. Hebrews 8:12-13

I went to a church once and they would sing this song that said that we are going up the rough side of the mountain. They loved that song, but that song is flat out wrong. God’s kindness is what leads us to repentance, not His wrath. Our yoke is easy and our burden is light. For us to say that things are rough on us is saying that the Bible is lying to us. Nothing is rough on us because our Father anoints us with Grace, energy, strength, and abilities to handle whatever we are going through.

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!

Many people love to talk about God destroying America because of laws that our politicians pass. Once again that is flat out wrong. Our Father has made a New Covenant with us and He is now gracious towards our sins, and let’s be honest even our righteousness is as filthy rags. If God was going to destroy us because of the things that we do, mankind would have all been destroyed long before any of us ever came into being.
