Revelation 21:21

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each separate gate being built of one solid pearl. And the main street (the broadway) of the city was of gold as pure and translucent as glass.
  • Once again, twelve in prophecy is a perfect number. Our Father’s Grace is perfect, the 12 gates perfectly allow all to enter into the power and glory that our Father has.
  • Pearls are precious and they are associated with wisdom: pearls of wisdom.
  • Pearls are made by adding something like sand into a oyster, then a pearl is made. So something great comes from something being added. Add Jesus into people and you get something very precious. Eternity will be precious because people who are not the Bride will be allowed to stay and enjoy the victory of our Lord. Where sin once abounded, our Father’s Grace will super abound it.
  • The Gates of the Wall of the New Jerusalem will allow many people, not just the Bride of Christ into it, and it is precious.
  • And she brought forth a male Child, One Who is destined to shepherd (rule) all the nations with an iron staff (scepter), and her Child was caught up to God and to His throne. Revelation 12:5
  • We are shown that Jesus rules all of the nations, not just the believers.
  • Who shall not reverence and glorify Your name, O Lord [giving You honor and praise in worship]? For You only are holy. All the nations shall come and pay homage and adoration to You, for Your just judgments (Your righteous sentences and deeds) have been made known and displayed. Revelation 15:4
  • They shall bring the glory (the splendor and majesty) and the honor of the nations into it. Revelation 21:26
  • Through the middle of the broadway of the city; also, on either side of the river was the tree of life with its twelve varieties of fruit, yielding each month its fresh crop; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing and the restoration of the nations. Revelation 22:2
  • Think of it, will the Bride of Christ, who are the believers now in this world, need restored after being made to be like Jesus 1000 years earlier when He returned? No!
  • We are told that someone will need restored though and it is those who are our guests.
  • So the pearl is a perfect metaphor for the Gates of the New Jerusalem to let them in.
  • The main street is gold, the way into eternity is perfect and it is clear to see. All of the questions and doubts of people will be removed.
  • Main streets are wide and allow a huge numbers of people to move along them.
  • I really believe that Jesus was successful on the Cross and that His victory allows more then just those of us who have been empowered to believe in this life to enjoy it.
  • Think of it like this, there were 12 Tribes of Israel, only one Tribe, the Tribe of Levi, were allowed to be the priests. The other 11 were still part of Israel. Only one group was to serve and 11 were to be served, just as the Bride will serve the guests. This is how weddings are, the Bride and Groom throw the party. They feed the guests, entertain the guests, and make sure that the guests are happy.
  • Think of a really good church. Not everyone is called to be the Pastor or Elders, but all are members of the Church. Some are chosen to serve and some are chosen to be served. This is how eternity will be, some are the Bride, meaning some are chosen to serve and some are the guests, meaning some are chosen to be served.
  • Jesus took on a servants towel and served and we are one with Him, so we, along with our Groom, will serve.
