Sermon On The Mount: Part 20

Give to him who keeps on begging from you, and do not turn away from him who would borrow at interest] from you. You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy; But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:42-44

Judas was probably the biggest enemy of Jesus.

Jesus answered them, Did I not choose you, the Twelve? And [yet] one of you is a devil (of the evil one and a false accuser). John 6:70

So what did Jesus do for Judas? He placed in charge of His ministries money. He gave the enemy and the thief easy access to money.

Now he did not say this because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief; and having the bag (the money box, the purse of the Twelve), he took for himself what was put into it [pilfering the collections]. John 12:6

The One Who acted this way is now the One Who lives within us. So who cares if people steal from us? Who cares if they falsely accuse us? Who cares if they wrong us? Our Father is more than rich enough to keep us. Our Father, the only power that matters, isn’t accusing us and our Father is providing for us.

Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?] Romans 8:33

And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

We can give and love those who hate us and mistreat us because it is Jesus who now lives within us. It is now Jesus’ Love that now abides within us and He is always causing us to triumph.

But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere, 2 Corinthians 2:14

We can’t help but be more than victorious with everything that Jesus preached on the Sermon on the Mount.
