Sermon On The Mount: Part 32

Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life? And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. Matthew 6:25-32

How Jesus? How can we even begin to be like this?

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Matthew 11:28

For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4

We can have the mind set that Jesus tells us to have because it is Jesus causing us to have it. We are victorious because we are born of God and He is now greater in us than anything that is in the world. We are victorious because of faith and Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

It is completely and totally up to Jesus to cause us to take no thought for the things of this world. Jesus is responsible for making us pray in secret, give in secret, to forgive people their willful and intentional sins, and to have perfect faith. We can do nothing on our own, but the great Truth is that we are never on our own. Everything that Jesus preaches in this Sermon is completely and totally up to Him to cause to come to pass.

May grace (God's favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 2

The precise and correct knowledge of God and Jesus is that we are now one with them and they are in complete and total control of our life’s. Jesus is our Head and it is the head that directs and controls every last action of the body. So Father give us this day the minds that take absolutely no thought for our worldly needs.
