End of Times Matthew 24:23-27

23 If anyone says to you then, Behold, here is the Christ (the Messiah)! or, There He is!—do not believe it.

24 For false Christ's and false prophets will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders so as to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (God’s chosen ones).

25 See, I have warned you beforehand.

26 So if they say to you, Behold, He is in the wilderness (desert)—do not go out there; if they tell you, Behold, He is in the secret places or inner rooms—do not believe it.

27 For just as the lightning flashes from the east and shines and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

I hear so much that the world will leave religion during the end times. But here we see that Jesus again warns us that there will be many false prophets, even ones telling us that they are Christ, in the last days. So this means that religion will be a very powerful force during the last days. Man never changes, there are going to be many bad things happening during the last 3 1/2 years of this age in earths history, and whenever bad things happen people run to church.

During the Great Tribulation people will be seeing the anti-christ performing great miracles, Revelation 13:13. They will hear him preaching as no one has ever preached before, Revelation 13:5-7. Many will believe that there is still a pre-tribulation rapture to come during the Great Tribulation, so they will flock to the anti-christ and his fake religious message. They will do this because they believe that the anti-christ cannot be revealed until they are gone. This is why Jesus warns us twice in one Chapter to watch out for fake prophets, wolves in sheep’s clothing, Matthew 7:15.
