In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God]. Among these we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind. But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us, Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation). Ephesians 2:2-5
Our Father saved us to satisfy His love for us, not because of our love for Him. Our Father loves us so much that it is His will that all of us are saved and all of us come to the knowledge of the Truth. Salvation is all based solely on our Father’s Grace and Mercy towards us. Salvation is also completely underserved, we can do absolutely nothing on our own to enjoy or have it. It’s all just a free gift from God.
For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.] Romans 11:29
Our Father will never change His mind about His Grace and Mercy, they will never be withdrawn from us. The world wants us to believe that we have to work to keep these free gifts, because the world wants us to focus on ourselves. The Truth is we will constantly fail and live in fear and condemnation as long as we believe that we must do anything on our own. It is only when the Holy Spirit empowers us with the Truth that we can do absolutely nothing and that it is all our Father in us doing everything, that we will live in victory. It is only when the Truth sets us free, that we will actually begin doing the things that we are suppose to. Because the Truth will allow us to know that it is God doing everything through us. Our peace in this is that there is absolutely no condemnation for us anymore, Jesus did away with all of it. We now have complete freedom. We have it even if we don’t understand it or even believe it. That is the victory that Jesus obtained for all of us.
We received all of this even though we were dead. We had no ability to believe, it was just given to us. We didn’t first believe so then our Father could come into our life’s. Our Father gave us the gift of belief and He allowed us to see that He was always with us even though we had never known it.
There is nothing impossible for us. There is no sin holding us back, there is no doubt that keeps God from doing everything through us. He gave us life even when we were dead, so what can He do now that He has empowered us to know that we have life. If anything needs done or pruned, our Father will do it. The battle is completely His and the victory is ours.
