We Abide In Jesus, So We Can Ask

"If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7

In the previous posting we talked about putting our Father first, even before the Bible. Look at John 15:7, doesn't Jesus say the same thing? First Jesus tells us to abide in Him, and then He tells us that the Holy Spirit will allow the Word of God to abide in us. Jesus teaches us that if we do these two things, then we are able to ask what we will and it shall be done for us. Stop and think of the grandeur and glory of this Truth, "ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you." This Truth is so powerful and so far beyond what is typically thought by religion, that without Jesus and God’s Word abiding in us and us abiding in Them, we would think that this verse was a misquote or mistranslation. But it’s not, and we haven’t been given a spirit of fear that will shy away from this Truth.

“For God hath not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

We have been strengthened with Christ and through the Anointing of our Father, we are able to know and accept all that Jesus has provided for us. And we are able to have peace and joy in believing and accepting it, as we abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit that is within us! “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13

As we abide in Jesus, we are empowered and strengthened in His Anointing, which allows the Holy Ghost to teach us everything about the glory of our union with God! “But the Anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same Anointing teacheth you of all things, and is Truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.” 1 John 2:27 When we see and understand who we are in Christ, we will see that asking for our will, actually means that we are asking for our Father's will. We don’t change God; He changes us. Human lusts and unfruitful desires are taken away from us when we are saved. Jesus is the refiners fire and the fullers soap that quickens our mortal bodies, Malachi 3:2. Our Father removes our stony heart and He replaces it with a heart of love that has been created in His image! “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36:26-27

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can you, except ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in Me, and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing." John 15:4-5

There is a Godly Truth and it is this: people who are empowered by the Spirit to spend time in the Word and in prayer, who abide in them, become bold! With what measure we meet it shall be measured unto us and whatsoever things we sow, that shall we reap! Find someone who has truly been empowered to have God indwell them, who is lead by Him in study and in prayer, and you’ll see someone who believes in asking and believes in asking for bold and powerful things. They will ask for salvation for those that the world has abandoned, they will ask for Jesus like moves of our Father in this world. They know who they are in Christ and Who He is in them. They know what salvation means! They know that by asking and bearing fruit glorifies God, and that is the desire of their heart, to bring glory to the One Who glorifies them.

Find someone who is offended at asking and you’ll see someone who spends their time elsewhere! With what measure we meet, it shall be measured unto us again! The Truth is really this, if we have truly accepted Jesus as Lord, then He will lead us into this lifestyle and we can’t help but to abide in Him and ask from Him. “He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3

Have you ever known a brother or sister in the Lord who continually talks about spending more time with God, yet it never really seems to come to pass? I have heard an awful lot of sermons that condemn people for this, especially when I was growing up. So many preachers and sermons place all of the responsibility on us and there is a great deal of condemnation associated with it, even though the Bible teaches us that there is no longer any condemnation for us. Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Clearly something was missing and while I heard so much condemnation, I never really heard the answer preached. Here is the Truth and the answer for people like this: the reason people fail to walk in a mature relationship with God is because they are looking towards themselves to foster the relationship, and alone it will never happen. There will always be work, kids, whatever it is, and though the reasons will seem legitimate, they will always get in the way and they will always rob us of the fullness that our Father has for us. If we want to experience the unity available to us with God; if we want true unbroken and full fellowship with Him, and to experience the rich full life available to us through Christ, here is how it happens, we must look to God for all things! We must ask Him to lead us in every area of our lives and realize that without Him in every area it will never happen. “I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without Me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5 Without Jesus we can do nothing! If you aren’t studying enough, praying enough, fellowshipping enough, look to our Father for the power to carry out His will in your life, and ask Him to lead you and to guide you.

Ezekiel prophesied that our Father would lead us in the paths of righteousness by putting His Spirit within us. King David wrote songs about it, and Jesus proclaimed it. If we are trying to have a relationship with God based on our own human abilities, we will fail! If we look unto to Jesus to Author and Finish the faith needed to fellowship with our Father, we will succeed! There is no debate; only our Father can give us the desire, the will, the strength, the ability, the faith, and the hope of true mature fellowship. So if we want it, we just ask our Father for it, and it shall be done unto us!

When I was twenty-four, our Father told me to read the Bible three times through. I was by no means a reader, so He really lead me to look towards Him for the strength and ability to do what it was that He had asked me to do! God is the One Who led me to look to Him; I can take no credit for it at all. By the power of the Holy Spirit that is within me, I read from Genesis to Revelation three times, and it took just a little longer than six months. I had never read like that before; there was a power within me, greater than me, it was God!

When we pray, our Father is right here with us. When we need help with our jobs, our Father is right here with us, He is always with us! Our Father has really revealed to me the Truth that there is nothing too great or too small for Him and that He is a part of every action of our lives! I have learned that we are never alone and anything that He has asked us to do, whether a Biblical principle or a spoken Word, He is within us giving us the power, the will, the ability, the desire, the finances, the faith, and the hope to do it. Our Father never gives us a directive and then leaves us alone to solely accomplish it. Our Father never leaves us or forsakes us!

The Truth is that from the very second that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to make Jesus our Lord and Savior, our Father is involved in every area of our lives. Actually the greater Truth is that He has always been involved in our live's, even before we were. We just grow up and realize it! And I pray that the Church realizes that we can ask our Father for everything, because we are one with Him and He has given us His Anointed Mind and that mind knows how and what to ask for. Our Father has given us His Word and we can clearly see what He desires for us! We have God’s Spirit, dwelling within us, crying out that we are worthy to ask and strengthening us to ask. Jesus was raised from the dead for our justification to ask. We are now strong in the power of our Father's might to ask. Faith comes from us hearing that we can ask and receive and receiving brings great joy to our Father as we are proven to be His disciples. “Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples.” John 15:8
