Revelation 16:10-11

10 Then the fifth [angel] emptied his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was [plunged] in darkness; and people gnawed their tongues for the torment [of their excruciating distress and severe pain]
  • The anti-christ’s kingdom will not be successful. Everything that he proclaims will fail. His kingdom will be built on the sand and not on the solid rock of Jesus.
  • People will realize the failure of what is going on, but they will probably not speak of it. People will be scared of the anti-christ. They will also not want to admit that they were wrong about him and they will not want to jeopardize their ability to make wealth. People will gnaw their tongues because they will not be able to express what they really feel during the end times.
  • The anti-christ’s kingdom will come and go all in just 3 1/2 years, so it will be a very short event.
  • Money is always the root of all evil and it will not bring the happiness and peace that people believe that it should. They will be depressed because the very thing they so longed for will not satisfy them at all.
  • Only Jesus can bring peace and satisfaction.
11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their anguish and their ulcers (sores), and they did not deplore their wicked deeds or repent [for what they had done].
  • Remember that the anti-christ will be a religious leader. He will attempt to make his kingdom look very religious, but it will place the focus on man and what we can do, which is anti-christ.
  • These anti-christ seeds are already being spread in most religions today. The lies of human efforts will just be magnified during the end times under his rule.
  • This will be the blasphemy of the end times: people will be taking all of the credit for the works they do, the things they believe, and the offerings they give. People will be boastful, prideful, and arrogant. The false christians will all be talking about what they are doing for God. Their left hands will know what their right hands are doing clearly going against the Sermon on the Mount.
  • [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God. 2 Timothy 3:4
  • Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? Matthew 7:22 (notice how the people say that they did the works, not Christ in them)
