For the law made nothing
perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which
we draw nigh unto God. Hebrews 7:19
Yesterday
we talked about the Truth that we do not have to worry at all about measuring
up when it comes to God. Let’s keep going with that study here today. We are
shown here in Hebrews that the Law, or the What We Have to Do and Don’t Do
List, never allowed anyone to measure up when it comes to our Father. Human
successes have never allowed anyone to draw near to God. Look at Moses, he was
pretty good and our Father still had to cover Himself up when He talked to him.
Mankind just hasn’t been made to be able to ever measure up with God.
For God has consigned
(penned up) all men to
disobedience, only that He may have mercy on them all [alike]. Romans 11:32
Our weakness and lack of
ability in measuring up does not matter in the least. Look at what our Father
tells us: the Hope that we only have to rely on Jesus has brought us perfection.
We don’t even have to have faith in this, only the hope of Jesus brings
perfection. We are also told that just having hope brings us close to our
Father, so close to Him that He now lives continually in us.
I in them, and Thou in Me,
that they may be made perfect in One; and that the world may
know that Thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me. John
17:23
That your faith should
not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit, we
speak wisdom among them that are perfect; yet not the wisdom of this world,
nor of the princess of this world, that come to naught. 1 Corinthians 2:5-6
The wisdom of the world tries
to tell us that we have to believe first, or that we have to accept first, or
measure up for our Father to be able to work fully through us. That is
nonsense. All we have to do is have hope and even hoping for this is not left
up to us by our Father.
May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and
peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the
power of the Holy Spirit you may abound
and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope. Romans 5:13
The Holy Spirit is
responsible to cause us to abound in Hope. Our burden is light and our yoke is incredibly
easy. It doesn’t get any easier than being totally reliant on God and not
ourselves to cause us to all abound in victory. We cannot help but to overflow
with Hope. Our Father is Hope and His power causes us to believe that all
things now work together for our good. We never look to ourselves, we have been
perfected by Jesus and His perfection is now our perfection.
