Today Is Pay Day

For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed in (trusted in) God, and it was credited to his account as righteousness (right living and right standing with God). to a laborer, his wages are not counted as a favor or a gift, but as an obligation (something owed to him). Romans 4:3-4

Our Father tells us plainly that wages are not a favor or a gift. He tells us that wages are owed to the worker. That is something that I believe many of us struggle with when it comes to our lives. We question whether or not we are going to be paid by our Father?

Remember, we work with and for our Father, we are in the Family Business. Our wages come to us directly from God Himself, not as a favor, but as an obligation. The Truth is our Father is obligated to pay us. He is obligated to pay us ever last beneficial scripture in the Bible. We do not have to beg to be paid all of the blessings that He has set either. What type of employer would our Father be if He made us beg to be paid? Who would want to work for someone that was slack in paying? Our Father said that now is our time of salvation, so now is the time that we should expect to be paid every blessed thing that we read about. Today is pay day and it is not wrong at all to fully expect to receive our full and complete pay!

For He says, In the time of favor (of an assured welcome) I have listened to and heeded your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance (the day of salvation). Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance [of you from God]; behold, now is the day of salvation! 2 Corinthians 6:2

So the question is do we have to be great workers to be paid?

All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become unprofitable and worthless; no one does right, not even one! Romans 3:12

For God has consigned (penned up) all men to disobedience, only that He may have mercy on them all [alike]. Romans 11:32

Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me [essentially and perfectly morally] good? No one is [essentially and perfectly morally] good—except God only. Luke 18:19

Jesus, Who is God in the flesh, said that He wasn’t good, so how can we be? So thank God our being paid is not based on our skill level. Far too often we believe that our pay is based on what we do. Every church that I grew up in claimed that our pay was based on our actions. How can that be when the Truth is that even our righteousness is as filthy rags? Also, look at what our Father said about us: we have been made to mess up. For all of the Word to be true there is no way that our pay can be based on our performance level. For all of the scriptures to fit and make any sense at all, our pay has to be based on Grace. Our pay is all undeserved and it is all unearned and yet we are owed every last blessing that our Father has proclaimed is ours. Jesus was that successful in securing our pay and today is pay day! It is not evil or sinful to expect that we get paid each and every last blessing that our Father has said is ours.

Because of Jesus’ success we can fully expect to be paid: faith, love, hope, joy, peace, health, fruit, power, knowledge, mercy, grace, understanding, meekness, kindness, generosity, vision, being givers, owing no man anything but to love them, and being fully used by our Father. We can expect all of these things and so much more. Whatever Jesus has and is, that is our pay and today is pay day.
