Ephesians 5:17

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:17

The only way that we will ever be able to firmly grasp what our Father wants us to do exactly is by Him clearly spelling it out to us. For us to be fully aware, God must communicate with us just as He did with Jesus. You see Jesus knew exactly when it was going to be His time to be crucified. He would tell people as they were trying to kill Him that it wasn’t yet His time. He told His family who were questioning Him that it wasn’t His time yet. He knew who was to be His Disciples. He was able to know these things because He knew exactly and precisely what the will of our Father was. Jesus’ knowledge of what God’s will was for Him came directly from the Holy Spirit and that is where our knowledge must come from as well.

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. John 14:26

But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed]. Yet to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for the [Holy] Spirit searches diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God [the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man's scrutiny]. For what person perceives (knows and understands) what passes through a man's thoughts except the man's own spirit within him? Just so no one discerns (comes to know and comprehend) the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-11

Now what is our peace with all of this? It is that we don’t have to beat ourselves up over not knowing exactly what to do. We can only know as much as our Father allows us know. Now I believe that our Father wants us to know everything. Why else would Jesus have told us that the Holy Spirit was going to teach us everything if we couldn’t? I just believe that there are seasons for this level of knowledge.

[Things are hidden temporarily only as a means to revelation.] For there is nothing hidden except to be revealed, nor is anything [temporarily] kept secret except in order that it may be made known. Mark 4:22

So we are able to relax and know beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is completely up to our Father to enlighten us. He is not mad at us or disappointed in us, He just has a time for us.
