Revelation 11:3-5

And I will grant the power of prophecy to My two witnesses for 1,260 (42 months; three and one-half years), dressed in sackcloth.
  • The prophecy of the 2 witnesses empowers people with the Truth that will allow them to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to repent, or to change.
  • And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams. Acts 2:7
  • How many times have we seen in Revelation that the messages of the end times are great, loud, powerful, and clear. Jesus just keeps repeating it. The scroll, or message is small, Revelation is not this huge complicated prophecy, but it is so very powerful.
  • Untold millions will be empowered with the Holy Spirit to change during these times.
  • After this I looked and a vast host appeared which no one could count, [gathered out] of every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages. These stood before the throne and before the Lamb; they were attired in white robes, with palm branches in their hands. Revelation 7:9
  • Once again this is a sweet thing! John is shown our Father empowering His two witnesses for the same 3 ½ years. John sees the power and glory of Jesus flowing, even during these extremely worldly times. The message of the witnesses is great, yet these two are extremely humble with what they have been empowered by our Father to do. This is why we are shown that they are dressed in sackcloth.
These [witnesses] are the two olive trees and the two lampstands which stand before the Lord of the earth.
  • The two olive trees were Zerubbabel and Joshua, Zechariah 4:14. These two led the captives out of Babylon, Zechariah 4:7 and the two olive trees continuously provide oil, which is the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit, not by physical might, Zechariah 4:6.
  • I believe that these are literally two witnesses who will be used by our Father to deliver many people out of Babylon. We will see later in Revelation that Babylon is the world’s system of government and economics. So for 3 ½ years we will see the power of God flowing miraculously through these two witnesses. Didn’t Jesus preach for 3 ½ years as well?
  • Some teach that these two witnesses are symbolic, they believe that they represent the Word of God. But we will study later in Revelation 11:8 that these two witnesses are killed and lay dead in the streets. Can the Word of our Father be killed by man? Can the Word of God lay dead or inactive? Absolutely not, the Word is alive, it is quick, and it is sharper than any two edged sword! This is why I believe that our Father will actually have two leaders of His end times message. Satan will try to imitate the two by having the anti-Christ and the false prophet.
And if anyone attempts to injure them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their enemies; if anyone should attempt to harm them, thus he is doomed to be slain.
  • The Holy Spirit is Fire. So if these leaders of faith are attacked, the Truth pours from them. Matthew 10:19
  • Just like with Jesus, these two have a time to serve and a time to die. Our Father is in control and they do not die until their time is finished, it's all pre-planned by our Father. And just as with Jesus, they use the Word of God as their sword.
  • For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [by His service, intervention] and in and for Him. Colossians 1:16
