Jesus Is Our Shepherd, Not Laws

“I am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine.” John 10:14

Jesus is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. Now stop and really consider the Truth that it is not the sheep's responsibility to protect themselves from the wolves, it is the shepherd’s responsibility to protect the sheep. If a sheep is harmed or lost, the shepherd is to blame! You see what I am getting at here? We have seen in the Word of God over and over again that Jesus will keep us and that God will perform the needed works of salvation through us. For years I have seen people trying to do it, making ordinances and rules to follow, and encouraging laws to be passed. I have seen a church that lacks power and demonstration of the Spirit. I have seen a church that is timid when it comes to talking about the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, and the Spiritual gifts that come as a result of our relationship with God, for fear of running people off. I have seen so much sickness and disease, divorce, condemnation, and fear. These things seem to be accepted by the church, as though they are just part of living, however, the Word of God clearly and completely contradicts this. Through the Word we see a glorious church without spot, wrinkle or blemish. The Word says that we have Jesus' glory, the Word teaches us that Jesus keeps us, and that He protects us. The Word teaches us that Jesus died to do away with all of the ordinances and laws that man had absolutely no ability to keep. So that we all could serve through the power of God within us! God says that His joy remains within us, so that our joy may be full. “These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:11 God proclaims that we have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, and peace and a sound mind. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 Jesus said that His yoke is easy and that His burden light, and that it is pleasant to be borne.

The Truth will set us free, and the Truth isn’t about creating laws declaring that we are to touch this and not touch that, wear this or don’t wear that, or keeping this day holier than that day, these are the things that men try to do to be justified with God, and they fail each and every time. We have a better Covenant, a far better way, and a way where righteousness is had without works. We have grace through faith and our faith is Authored and Finished by Jesus Himself! God sent Jesus, and Jesus made an open shew of all these carnal works at the Cross, destroying all of the ordinances and handwritings that were against us. Jesus came so that God could indwell us and so that we could be free from the rudiments and ordinances of this world, as He is free from them! Touch not, taste not, handle not have a shew of worship, but they are carnal and they bring no one closer to God! We are made holy and righteous by the Blood of Jesus Christ, and by nothing else!
