Revelation 19:8-9

8 She has been permitted to dress in fine (radiant) linen, dazzling and white—for the fine linen is (signifies, represents) the righteousness (the upright, just, and godly living, deeds, and conduct, and right standing with God) of the saints (God’s holy people).

  • Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is. 1 John 3:2
  • We won't just dress in any old way, we will be as Jesus is.
  • In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:17
  • For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church. Ephesians 5:31-32

9 Then [the angel] said to me, Write this down: Blessed (happy, to be envied) are those who are summoned (invited, called) to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me [further], These are the true words (the genuine and exact declarations) of God.

  • We are told that anyone who is summoned to the Wedding Feast is blessed. So the question is who is summoned to attend?
  • And those servants went out on the crossroads and got together as many as they found, both bad and good, so [the room in which] the wedding feast [was held] was filled with guests. Matthew 22:10
  • Not only is the Bride summoned, but guests will be summoned as well and there will be both good and bad guests summoned to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
  • In Jesus’ parable of the Marriage Supper He tells us that one however will not be allowed to stay, Matthew 22:11-13
  • But notice in Jesus’ parable that He only said one, why not many, why not most? Jesus tells us that only one cannot stay.
  • While I was with them, I kept and preserved them in Your Name [in the knowledge and worship of You]. Those You have given Me I guarded and protected, and not one of them has perished or is lost except the son of perdition [Judas Iscariot—the one who is now doomed to destruction, destined to be lost], that the Scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12
  • Jesus tells us in John 17:2 that He has been given all flesh and here in verse 12 He tells us that He will only lose one. I think that it is really powerful to see that in the Marriage Supper parable that Jesus also says just one.
  • Also the angel says that those who are invited to the Feast are to be envied. People often times take this as meaning other people will envy us. But it is the angels who envy what we are allowed to become.
  • It has been solemnly and earnestly said in a certain place, What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You graciously and helpfully care for and visit and look after him? Hebrews 2:6
