Revelation 21:15-18

15 And he who spoke to me had a golden measuring reed (rod) to measure the city and its gates and its wall.

16 The city lies in a square, its length being the same as its width. And he measured the city with his reed—12,000 stadia (about 1,500 miles); its length and width and height are the same.
  • The staff is golden, so it is perfect, also remember that it is shaped like a Shepherd's Hook, so we are protected by Jesus. Our Father’s ways are perfect. The way that He measures us is always by Grace and Grace is perfect. It may be underserved, but it is freely given.
  • The width, length, and height are all the same. Our Father never changes, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
  • The number 1500 doesn’t seem to have any special meaning in other prophecies of the Bible. But 1500 miles is huge, the New Jerusalem is huge. Our Father’s power and Grace are huge, because they are for every nation, tongue, and tribe.
  • After this I looked and a vast host appeared which no one could count, [gathered out] of every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages. These stood before the throne and before the Lamb; they were attired in white robes, with palm branches in their hands. Revelation 7:9
17 He measured its wall also—144 cubits (about 72 yards) by a man’s measure [of a cubit from his elbow to his third fingertip], which is [the measure] of the angel.

18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city [itself was of] pure gold, clear and transparent like glass.
  • 144 is 12x12. We were told earlier in Revelation that there would be 144,000 Jewish evangelist and the number 144,000 represents jubilee. The year of Jubilee was the year that people were freed from debt. Our Father's wall, or His protection, frees us from all of the power, penalty, pleasure, and presence of sin.
  • The staff is golden so it is perfect. Our Father’s ways are perfect. The way He leads us is perfect. We have a perfect Shepherd in Jesus.
  • Jasper has several colors in it. Jesus sacrifice has allowed people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to be His guests and the wall, or God’s protection, is for all people. The New Jerusalem will be filled with all kinds of people, those who were good in this lifetime and even those who were bad.
  • And those servants went out on the crossroads and got together as many as they found, both bad and good, so [the room in which] the wedding feast [was held] was filled with guests. Matthew 22:10
  • In Jesus' parable of the Wedding Feast we are told that only one person will not be allowed to stay in eternity, Judas.
  • But when the king came in to view the guests, he looked intently at a man there who had on no wedding garment. And he said, Friend, how did you come in here without putting on the [appropriate] wedding garment? And he was speechless (muzzled, gagged). Then the king said to the attendants, Tie him hand and foot, and throw him into the darkness outside; there will be weeping and grinding of teeth. Matthew 22:11-13
  • While I was with them, I kept and preserved them in Your Name [in the knowledge and worship of You]. Those You have given Me I guarded and protected, and not one of them has perished or is lost except the son of perdition [Judas Iscariot—the one who is now doomed to destruction, destined to be lost], that the Scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12
  • You ever wonder why Jesus only said that one did not have the appropriate wedding coat in His parable and not that most or many did not have one?
  • A lot of people will say that verse 14 in Matthew 22, which says that many are called, but only a few are chosen, means that a ton of people get cast out of eternity, but Jesus only said one man in His parable. With all of the other verses that we have studied, I honestly believe that there is only one and to be honest I hope that I am wrong and that even the one will be able to stay.
  • Many are called to be the Bride of Christ, but only a few are chosen by our Father to be Christ's' Bride. But at our wedding celebration, which is eternity, we will have many guests, both good and bad.
  • Our Father’s protection covers many different people, just as jasper has many different colors.
