Revelation 20:11-12

11 Then I saw a great white throne and the One Who was seated upon it, from Whose presence and from the sight of Whose face earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.
12 I [also] saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done [their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] in accordance with what was recorded in the books.
  • We are told very plainly here that the dead are judged, not that the living are judged. So we aren’t judged here and also those who did not follow after satan when he was released are not judged here, we are only told that the dead are judged.
  • He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation—he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.] John 3:18
  • I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life. John 5:24
  • We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life. Romans 6:4
  • The Truth for us is that we have already passed from death to life, we have been judged by Grace already.
  • Why has this happened for us already? Why have we already passed from judgment?
  • For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Romans 5:17
  • We have been judged already so that we may be used by our Father to serve those who haven't. Jesus said to be the greatest in His Kingdom we must be the biggest servants, Matthew 23:11. We have been chosen, Matthew 20:16, so that our Father may use us to serve the world. Jesus came for the lost and we are now one with Him, so our mission is to serve.
  • Also notice here that people will be judged by what they had done. Jesus came to do away with salvation being based on our works.
  • But if it is by grace (His unmerited favor and graciousness), it is no longer conditioned on works or anything men have done. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace [it would be meaningless]. Romans 11:6
  • For God has consigned (penned up) all men to disobedience, only that He may have mercy on them all [alike]. Romans 11:32
  • No work will ever be able to stand up to the test of righteousness. Because this is the Truth our Father has freely given us Grace. Every work will be judged guilty, but Grace will overcome the guilty sentence and forgiveness and mercy will be applied. People will be judged innocent in-spite of what they have done. Just as those who sent Jesus to the Cross were forgiven.
