12 It had a massive and high wall with twelve [large] gates, and at the gates [there were stationed] twelve angels, and [on the gates] the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were written:
13 On the east side three gates, on the north side three gates, on the south side three gates, and on the west side three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundation [stones], and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
- We are told that the New Jerusalem will have a massive high wall. Walls define areas. Walls are clear to see. When there is a wall, especially a huge wall, you clearly know if you are in or out of the city, or when dealing with the New Jerusalem you clearly know if you are in our Father’s glory or out of it.
- Wall's provide safety and our Father’s protection is massive.
- I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one. John 17:15
- There are three gates on every side of the massive wall.
- The number three is used 467 times in the Bible and it means completeness. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- So on all sides of our Father’s wall, or His protection, His defining righteousness, is completeness.
- Gates allow people in or keep things out. Our Father completely lets people in and He perfectly keeps all unrighteousness out.
- Twelve represents perfection and power. The glory of our Father is perfect. His protection is perfect and powerful. He perfectly has defined righteousness and He has allowed us to be perfectly united with it all. We are all citizens of the New Jerusalem.
- I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me. John 17:23
- The number twelve is used 187 times in the Bible, it is used 22 times in Revelation alone. The number twelve is considered a perfect number. It symbolizes our Father's power and His authority and it is a number that symbolizes perfect government, the 12 Tribes of Israel, 12 Apostles, and the 12 Stars in the Brides Crown in Revelation 12. We are shown that everything changes and perfection is going to be the normal when our Father actually allows everyone to know that He dwells with them.
- So we are shown in these verses that there will be a perfect government in place for eternity. All men shall be treated wonderfully as Jesus Rules. Our Father will make all things new. There will be no more tears, anguish, sorrow, pain, or suffering.
